I had to have a little surgery in July. We have been trying to get pregnant for about 6 years now without any luck. I haven't ever had much luck with going to the Doctor, but in July I met with Dr. Rawlins (who actually happens to be in our ward at church) and he found out what was wrong and told me I would have to have surgery to fix it. It is very exciting and scary all at the same time. I had a hard time understand why none of the other doctors could have figured it out, but I realize that I had a lot to learn in the past six years. I hope that this fixes the problem and I try not to get my hopes up, but we'll see!
Then, back in March, Brandon and I were discussing what he should do about a job. He has been looking for a job for awhile now in Accounting, but he just wasn't ever excited about that career. He is really smart, but a "desk" job just never clicked with him. We had always talked, hypothetically, about him being a firefighter. His dad, grandpa & great grandpa were all firemen. When we lived in Utah though, it just never seemed right. So, in March we started praying and fasting about what we should do. In church one Sunday, it came to us that maybe he should look into Firefighting. We contacted the fire station (which is about 5 minutes from our house) and met with a lieutenant there. Brandon decided to try and get on with the Volunteer Fire Department first and see what happens from there. Everything else after that just seemed to fall into place. He had to take a couple tests, a written test, oral interview & a physical test. He started working out like crazy in April. We found out he had passed all the tests in August and was accepted on the Volunteer Fire Department. Two weeks ago we talked about him going back to school to get his Fire Science Degree. We met with the person in charge of the program at the College. Originally we had thought that Brandon would start school in January, but we talked with him at the perfect time because now he can get in the program the end of September. It all seems to be happening so fast, but it just feels like the right thing to do. I am so proud of Brandon and his hard work. We hear about people getting these "amazing" jobs, and it use to be frustrating. But it doesn't matter what people say or think, all I want is for Brandon to be doing what he loves to do. I know Heavenly Father will bless us for our Faith and the next year will be very interesting. I can't wait to see what happens with everything!
